THE 2005 SUMMER PROMOTION AT THE FRENCH QUARTER IS NOW OVER.
WHAT HAPPEN TO FASCINATION FRIDAYS?
The French Quarter asked the cast of Seduction to bring new stage shows to their venue to help their lagging Friday night promotion with Planet Radio.
The owner, Andre insisted our deal be with him directly and signed a 12 week contract with us for our stage shows. The cast and crew of the new FASCINATION
troupe went above and beyond our contractual duties by bringing in decor, art, and regional talent to create a diverse night of music, art, fashion, fetish and live music.
We saw a noticeable lack of ability, or unwillingness, by The French Quarter to advertise this night properly so we did what we could to get the word out ourselves.
We later found out that Andre sabotaged his own night by not only doing no print advertising but according to Planet Radio sales reps he cut the radio advertising budget
in half making it impossible to properly get the word out. Andre refused to attend meetings with us or Planet Radio to discuss this problem and allowed the night
to deteriorate under the mismanagement of his ill-equipped staff. The venue was a disappointment with no in house DJ equipment or lights. Had it not been for
Jon Kenisis bringing in lights and equipment each week the night would have never happened at all. So inevitably, after weeks of trying to get with Andre
and his refusing to make planned meetings and being unwilling to discuss putting any funding of any kind behind his own night he ended the promotion
without notice three weeks before our contract was complete. He sighted loosing money on the night as the reason for shutting it down, despite
claiming "Money is no problem." when he signed the contract, then being unwilling to even meet with the other participants in the promotion
to make it work. We then invoiced him for the remaining balance of our contract so our costs invested in putting on these shows could be
recouped and the cast, most who changed their work schedules to make this night happen, could be compensated. Andre has still not
to date fulfilled his contracted word and paid this balance. Our policy is to not support venues whose club owners would be so
unscrupulous as to so unfairly treat local talent. Unfortunately this leaves us unable to help support or validate the
current promoters (who ironically are putting on fetish and live music events) through any of our outlets.
We paved the way and got buried under the road.
